ATLANTA, Ga. –  Flooding is one of the most common hazards in the United States, with 90 percent of all U.S. natural disasters involving some sort of flooding. As Hurricane Michael bears down on more than 300 miles of Florida and Alabama coastline, Juvare is supporting clients in communicating the importance of monitoring weather reports and road conditions. Water levels will rise before Michael makes landfall and heavy rains will certainly bring flooded roads. The Florida Department of Transportation is encouraging motorists who see flooded roads to turn around and find alternate routes, adding that flooded roads can hide washed out roads and only 6 inches of rushing water can easily push a car off the road.

Citizens can access www.FL511.com for up-to-date road closure information. FEMA also encourages people to download the FEMA mobile app to get real-time alerts, emergency safety tips and be able to locate open emergency shelters (including those that are pet-friendly).

The Florida Department of Health @HealthyFla shows people what to pack in their emergency kits and stresses the importance of #KnowYourZone. Armed with this information, people will be ready to evacuate sooner than later, helping to alleviate traffic congestion.

At Juvare, we routinely back our clients in communicating vital information to citizens. Juvare’s WebEOC technology and other solutions help our clients prepare for, manage and recover from hurricane events and the impact of flash floods and flooding.

Juvare Live Support is available 24/7 at 877-771-0911. We highly encourage Juvare clients, whether activated or not, to use our services to ensure their communities get the information they need in real time.
