Four Reasons to Download the 2018 Preparedness Summit Mobile App

blog-benefits-of-social-media

As you start planning for all the great events at this year’s Preparedness Summit, we want to encourage you to download the Summit mobile app, which allows you to browse our program offerings, personalize your schedule and make the most out of Summit.

There are numerous reasons to install the free mobile app. For example, you can access a full listing of exhibitors, maps, attendees and speaker bios, as well as search the most recent version of the conference agenda. However, our four favorite features of the 2018 mobile app are:

  1. Build and Customize Your Schedule

One of the top features of the mobile app is the ability to build and customize your Summit schedule. After viewing the three-day agenda, you may be wondering which share-a-thon, guru talk or industry expert sessions to attend. The mobile app allows you to view details for every session, with information such as speaker bios, topic descriptions, times and locations.

Since there are several speaker engagements happening concurrently, this feature helps you choose which events to attend, ahead of time, rather than waiting until the last minute. Having your calendar completed before you even get to Atlanta gives you the chance to schedule a tour of the city’s many attractions or plan a great meal in one of the nation’s top foodie capitals.

If you prefer to use your mobile device’s calendar app, you can export your customized schedule from the Preparedness Summit mobile app and add it to your calendar. This saves you the trouble of manually transferring information to your calendar.

  1. Participate in the App Game

When you are logged in to the app, click Games to see your personal profile and game points. You earn points in the app through four categories: Explorer, Networking, Social Butterfly and Discover Content. Each category has tasks to complete during the conference, and when you complete these tasks, you are rewarded a certain number of points.

At the end of the week, the person who has collected the most points will be awarded Echo Dot (2nd Generation) with a Wemo Smart Plug. During the conference, if you are curious how you rank among conference attendees, click the Leaderboard—but be aware, this just might motivate you to complete more tasks!

  1. Receive Push Notifications

Another benefit of the mobile app is your ability to receive push notifications. As you have probably experienced at other large conferences, there is always the possibility of last-minute scheduling changes. With the Preparedness Summit mobile app, you will be notified of any changes that occur during Summit.

When you download the app and launch it for the first time, it asks if you want to receive push notifications. After enabling this feature, the app uses your device’s own push technology to send important notifications, such as information about room changes and newly-added events.

Rather than relying on emails to notify you about minor scheduling changes, push notifications create a more direct and effective channel of communication.

  1. View Conference Maps

This year’s Summit takes place at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. The Preparedness Summit mobile app provides a detailed map to guide you through the Summit and help you find the location of everything you want to see and do.

On the agenda, simply click the location of a session (such as Hanover G) and the map opens, providing directions to that location. As a bonus, the conference map lists everything going on at that location throughout the day.

In addition to these favorite features, the mobile app also encourages you to share your opinion through surveys. The app allows you to provide immediate feedback and ratings for each session you attend. You can also provide feedback about the whole experience. Let us know if you think an important topic was missed or tell us if you really enjoyed a certain session that you want to hear more about next year. Your opinion is important to us, and we use your feedback to shape and update the Summit every year.

The Preparedness Summit mobile app also provides information about Wi-Fi, charging stations, networking activities, transportation and other details. The mobile app is free and available for download through the iOS App Store and Android Apps on Google Play. If your mobile device is not iOS or Android compatible, you can access the agenda on our website.

If you already have the app and need additional information, please contact us by email at [email protected].
