Streamlining Operations

To deliver on its mission, Bird Electric has to manage resources, personnel, crews, and equipment
across its entire U.S. service territory. The team initially relied on traditional tools like spreadsheets to do this but found them clunky and inefficient. They needed to replace manual methods with a more unified digital platform to streamline operations.

Andrew Foster works on innovation and emergency management for Bird Electric’s Storm Team. Having used WebEOC in previous roles, he knew Juvare would be a good place to start.

“We didn’t have an efficient way to manage all of our resource information,” Andrew explained. “We were doing everything in Excel sheets, and we needed a better way to do it.”

The Bird Electric team partnered with Juvare’s Professional Services team to create a new module called Subcontractor Resources, giving roughly 300 contract users and staff the ability to submit and track everything in real time, including rosters, assignments, timesheets, expenses, and crew or equipment changes. This module provided a central view for team members, complete with features like alerts and checklists. It also eliminated the consistency problems from traditional spreadsheets.   


The impact was immediate. The ability to update and revise information in real time transformed their operations. “We used the alerts feature, so if we have an event that’s coming up, we can send an alert and ask [contractors] to submit their initial resource counts. We are also able to make changes in real time. If you’ve ever done that in Excel, you know it’s not easy to make changes and track revisions. Now, we can do all of that inside of the system.” 

With WebEOC, Bird Electric replaced manual tracking with automated workflows that significantly reduced administrative overhead. The result: proven ROI with faster reporting, smoother coordination, and greater operational consistency across teams and job sites.
