EMResource Hurricane Preparedness Checklist

HurricaneThis hurricane season, make sure EMResource is configured with everything you need before a hurricane arrives. We’ve put together this Hurricane Preparedness Checklist to help you facilitate a faster, smoother response to hurricanes. We included links to our Help Center and Training Center to help guide you through these steps.

  1. Create a Hurricane Event Template: If a hurricane happens, you can create a hurricane event in EMResource to coordinate resources and keep others informed. To create hurricane events more quickly, you should create an event template for hurricanes. If you already have a hurricane event template, make sure the associated resource types and status types are up to date. (Help Page | Training Video)
  2. Add Users: Make sure that every staff member who needs to access EMResource has an EMResource account. Add new users as needed. (Help Page | Training Video)
  3. Review Access and Permissions: Users should log in and confirm that they can access all the information and features they need. This will help you resolve login and permissions issues ahead of time. You may need to resolve permissions issues by updating users’ roles or resource rights. (Help Page | Training Video)
  4. Enable Event Notifications: In your notification preferences, you can choose to be notified about specific types of events. Anyone who needs to be notified about hurricane events should turn on event notifications for the hurricane event template. (Help Page)
  1. Configure Status Change Notifications: You can configure your status change preferences to receive notifications when specific status changes occur. Users should review and update their status change preferences to stay informed about crucial status changes. (Help Page)
  1. Update Contact Information: Users should review and update their contact information to ensure they receive any notifications they’ve set up. (Help Page)
  1. Review Your EMResource Configuration: See if there’s anything else you need to add or reconfigure to prepare for a hurricane. As needed, you may want to review your resources, resource types, status types, views, dashboards, or documents. For example, you may need to add shelters as resources, reconfigure a status type for shelter occupancy, or set up a dashboard to monitor power outages.

In addition to these steps, you may want to run a hurricane drill to verify that everything is configured properly and resolve any issues your users might run into.
