Hurricane Delta – Resources and Support Information

Hurricane Delta is expected to make landfall in Louisiana Friday afternoon and has already begun hitting parts of the state as well as Texas.

The Category 3 storm will impact the southwestern portion of Louisiana, following a similar track to that of Hurricane Laura six weeks ago. Delta is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain which could cause significant flooding in low lying areas, as well as life-threatening storm surge, which could be as high as 11 feet in some places.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards also announced an extension of the state’s Phase 3 COVID-19 protections to prevent the spread of coronavirus during the storm.
