This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) released new reporting standards for data related to Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF).
This eagerly anticipated data standard comes on the heels of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) communicating last week that the request and methodology would be forthcoming.

Long Term Care facilities will be required to submit data to the federal government via one of several approved methods, one of which includes the NHSN’s new COVID-19 Module for Long Term Care Facilities. The methodology will help these facilities with tracking infections and prevention processes. Data entered into the new module will include Resident Impact and Facility Capacity, Staff and Personnel Impacts, Supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Ventilator Capacity and Supplies.
